A local journalist, Saeed Sarbazi, missing since Wednesday, returned home on early Saturday morning.

Mr. Sabazi, allegedly in the custody of some intelligence agency, was left blindfolded on the Karsaz Road after returning him his personal effects, including cellphones.

[. . .]

Narrating his ordeal at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday evening, Mr. Sarbazi said that he was on his way to the KPC on Wednesday when he was intercepted by some unknown people near Jubilee cinema, who dragged him from his car into another vehicle and covered his face with his own shirt. “I told him that I am a journalist but they told me that I am a terrorist.”

[. . .]

“I was interrogated about my personal and professional details, my family members, and my connection to the so-called Baloch Liberation Army. I told them that being a journalist, I had made some calls after Akbar Bugti’s killing about some news but I didn’t know anything bout BLA or any of its members,” he said. [Cont’d…]

  • HEALTH MINISTER CONDEMNS BUCKFAST TONIC WINE” – by Arthur MacMillan – The Scotsman on Sunday – The Scotsman Publications Limited – Edinburgh, Scotland, UK – 24 September 2006
[NOTES: Fortified wine made by Benedictine monks in Devon, is coming under fire from Health Officials who say the popular drink is causing anti-social behavior among Scotland’s young people. During an interview with Talk 107, an Edinburgh-based radio station, Scotland’s Health Minister, Andy Kerr responded to a listener’s question by stating that, “I think there’s something different about that drink that does something to, particularly, our young people.” also charging that Buckfast had not been “very open” with him and other officials on the issue. A spokesman from the company that distributes the wine on the monks’ behalf, J. Chandler & Co., is quoted in the article as saying that, “I am baffled as to how, before a meeting with us, [Andy Kerr, Scotland’s Health Minister] he has come out and said the things he has in relations to Buckfast. his swashbucklying statements show bad manners, a complete lack of judgement, and they don’t do the Scottish Parliament any favours at all. It’s no way to behave.” Many more details in the article.]

HEALTH & MEDICINE:

QUOTE:

The World Health Organization [WHO] is urging powerful environmental groups not to oppose the use of the pesticide DDT to fight malaria in Africa, after a significant reversal of policy by the agency.

Arata Kochi, the director of the WHO’s malaria department, issued his appeal to the green lobby after announcing that the agency now endorsed spraying the pesticide inside dwellings, especially mud and thatched huts, in mosquito-infested regions.

“I am here today to ask you, please help save African babies as you are helping to save the environment. African babies do not have a powerful movement… to champion their well-being,” Mr. Kochi said.

[. . .]

DDT is banned in the developed world and the WHO has discouraged its use in the Third World for three decades, but the organisation has now concluded that its life-saving benefits far outweigh the health and environmental risks. [Cont’d …]

Greenleaf, Idaho — All Americans have the right to bear arms. Some towns have even gone as far as to require each household to have a gun. Now a small Idaho town is contemplating a similar idea — it’s called the Civil Emergencies Ordinance. And although gun ownership is just one piece of this ordinance, it’s the part that’s getting the most attention.

“We’ve [been] blessed to be a fairly rural area of the state, so we don’t have a lot of crime and I think we’d like to keep it that way,” said Lee Belt, Greenleaf city clerk. [Cont’d…]

  • [LAYTON,] UTAH HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER FACES SIMPLE ASSAULT CHARGES FOR THUMBTACK IN GLOVE” – Associated Press (AP) – The Houston Chronicle – The Hearst Corporation – Houston, Texas, US – 23 September 2006
[NOTES: A 15-year-old high school football player allegedly put a thumbtack in his glove before shaking hands and high-fiving players from rival, Davis High School, following a football game last Thursday. One of the students that was pricked with the tack has decided to press charges against the boy which has resulted in a criminal charge of simple assault brought by the Layton Police Department. The offending student has been kicked off the team as a result of his actions, and may face further penalties through the school district if the principal decides the tack was used as a weapon, instead of merely being a “prank”. The two schools have a long-standing rivalry and have played pranks on each other in the past. Davis District Official Chirstopher Williams is quoted in the article stating that, “There’s been a rivalry between the two for years, but it doesn’t justify one student to hurt another student.”]

  1. Wow you really are a right wing christian!! I thought you were just kidding or attempting to be funny.

You really have this politics of fear thing down pat.

See you on the flip side.

  2. Well, I am a Christian, but I’m not a “right-winger”. I can’t stand people who make laws to impose their morality on other people. I also believe the war on drugs is flat-out prohibition that will never work. I also vote Libertarian whenever I can, although since moving from Colorado there isn’t much of a chance here.

On the other hand I can’t stand socialists or communists either — they are all about control as well but do a better job of sugar-coating it.

As far as the “politics of fear” are concerned, you really don’t understand the real threat do you? The stated goal of Islam is to literally take over the world and institute Sharia law. This is proven over and over again.

Do I think all Muslims are people to be afraid of — certainly not, but I do have my reservations about a religion that is so incredibly twisted as far as their treatment of women is concerned. Everything I’ve studied points to the fact that Sharia or Islamic law — as many of the Islamic countries are run under — is more fascist than anything we’ve seen here in the U.S.

I have serious issues with both Clinton’s presidency and some of the things Bush has done as well — I’m just not as deranged as some people to think that there is no threat at all and that it is all propoganda. If you want to really take a look at things that led up to 9/11 I suggest reading Jayna Davis’s “The Third Terrorist”. It’s eye-opening, and the people who were really behind the Murrah Federal Building Bombing (the ones who helped Nichols & McVeigh) are still here, and gave support to the 9/11 hijackers that went to flight school in Norman, Oklahoma. I’ve done my homework sir, and I don’t blindly follow either…
