Racism and the Obama Campaign

Posted by Admin on October 12, 2008

Over the course of this election we have been hearing Obama shout about racism.  We have seen him play the race card over, and over again.  Whenever Obama’s opponents uncover more dirt on him, he blames it all on some perceived effort to try to make him look bad because of the color of his skin.

Geraldine Ferraro brought this up during the Democratic Primaries, and she was shouted down.  Now, the Republicans, and their candidates are being accused of being racist?  Enough is enough.  I have a little history lesson for everyone…

1. Abraham Lincoln who was the Republican Party’s First President was the man responsible for the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves.

2. Democrats, primarily in the South were the ones who wrote and enforced the “Jim Crow Laws” that subjugated former slaves, and their now-free children, and granchildren.

3. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. Frederick Douglass was a Republican.  George Wallace was a Democrat.

4. It was the Republicans in Congress who pushed for and passed the Civil Rights Amendment while Democrats fought against it.

5. It is Conservatives and Democrats of all ethnic backgrounds that has examined the content of Barack Obama’s character, and found it sorely lacking, and indeed dangerous.

6. In his book, Obama himself wrote that playing the race card could help keep people focused on things OTHER than the accusations being brought against you in an election (he learned this watching Harold Washington, Jr.’s Campaign in Chicago.

I will leave you with the following wisdom from some true American Heroes of Equality:

“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well.”

– Booker T. Washington

“Every colored man who has a vote to cast, would cast that vote for the regular Republican Party and thus bury the Democratic Party so deep that there will not be seen even a bubble coming form the spot where the burial took place.”

– Robert Smalls, Civil War Hero & Ex-Slave

“I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.”

– Frederick Douglass

RETRACTION Re: Joe Biden’s Gas Pump Buddy

Posted by Admin on October 3, 2008

Well, I sure made a mistake!  And, as it turns out it’s a rather big one.

I take little consolation in the fact that I wasn’t the only one to make the mistake, as I am the one who published a post on this blog about it when I should’ve at the very least waited until reviewing the audio for the debates to double-check that what I had heard (and what others had heard) was indeed accurate.

FOR THE RECORD:

The name that Senator Joe Biden mentioned in his anecdotal story about the man at the gas pump, was “Joey Danco“, and NOT Joey Stanko .

Now, I was originally going to do as many media sources do when they have made a mistake and merely delete the story, however, that would be more akin to covering up my mistake than setting the record straight.  So, along with this separate post, I will copy and paste a link to this notice at the very beginning of the original post.

I would like to take this opportunity to first apologize to my readers. I would never intentionally seek to mislead anyone about issues so important to this election.  I have no need to make up information regarding Senator Biden, nor Barack Obama.  Simply addressing the issues I believe makes a much more salient point about any objections I may have to their campaign.

I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to Senator Biden, to Joseph Stanko, Jr., as well as extending my apologies to Joey Danco.  As a result of this embarassing learning experience, I resolve to double- and triple-check with as many sources as I possibly can before running with a story like this again if the opportunity ever presents itself to me again.

Again, I am truly sorry for this collosal misunderstanding.

Sincerely,
Michelle K.

Who is Joey Stanko – Biden’s “Average American” Gas-Pump Buddy?

Posted by Admin on October 2, 2008

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Information contained within the following blog posting, has been determined to be inaccurate. Please see the following retraction for all the details, an explanation for why I didn’t just delete this entry, and my sincere apology to all involved:

ORIGINAL POST:

Well, I just got done watching tonight’s debates.  I found it interesting when Joe Biden mentioned the name of an ordinary American who he apparently had a conversation with at a gas pump, about the economy, and about the cost of that gas!

Sen. Biden said the name of this “average American” is Joey Stanko.  Some on a popular Conservative message board jokingly said, “I’ll bet he made that name up”.

Now out of pure curiosity, I decided to do a quick google search, and lo and behold, “Joey Stanko” aka Joseph Stanko, Jr. is a LOBBYIST, in Washington working for Hunton & Williams!

His profile available here:
http://www.hunton.com/bios/bio.aspx?id=16009
states the following:

Joseph Stanko, Jr.

Practice focuses on issue advocacy before Congress, White House and other Executive Branch officials in the areas of global climate change, renewable and bio-fuels, the Clean Air Act and other environmental laws, energy policy and Homeland Security.  Also provides strategic planning for corporations developing environmental mission statements or undertaking long-term business planning.

So the question now becomes… Did Biden have an astounding coincidence happen where the name of the “average American” he spoke to at the pump just happened to have the same name as a Washington Lobbyist pushing these exact issues?  Or, did Biden, in his attempt to one-up Palin and her anecdotal stories about people she has spoken to on the campaign trail simply make something up?

I truly believe there are no coincidences, and what would be the statistical chances that Joe would happen to run into “some guy” at a gas pump, speak about energy issues, and what are the chances that that “average American” would share the SAME NAME as a man who Biden is undoubtedly familiar with through his lobbying activities in Washington.  Again, there are no coincidences, and I believe the statistical chances are FIRMLY on my side when I say — Nice try Joe, but you’ve been BUSTED!
