September 27 – October 4, 2006
Due to my focusing on the horrific events that have occurred over the last week this list is in no way complete. It would simply take too long to go through the literally thousands of emails I have in my inbox and search through for highlights. Therefore, I will offer what I have in this list, and the regular updates of newslinks will resume tomorrow for 10/05.

NEW AL-QAIDA TAPE RELEASED:

MUSLIM YOUTHS RIOTING IN BELGIUM:

QUOTE:

It looks as if immigrant youths want to turn nightly rioting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan into an annual tradition. Around 8:30pm last night violence erupted again in Brussels, the capital of Europe. The riots centered on the Brussels Marollen quarter and the area near the Midi Train Station, where the international trains from London and Paris arrive. Youths threw stones at passing cars, windows of parked cars were smashed, bus shelters were demolished, cars were set ablaze, a youth club was arsoned and a shop was looted. Two molotov cocktails were thrown into St. Peter’s hospital, one of the main hospitals of central Brussels. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fires at the hospital, but youths managed to steal the keys of the fire engine.

[. . .]

Last night the police arrested 45 rioters. One of them will be prosecuted for assaulting the owner of a shop. Philippe Close, the chef de cabinet of the Mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, said that the authorities would continue their efforts to defuse the situation in a peaceful manner, but he announced that the police will be less complacent in [the] future, “since we cannot tolerate that this [Marollen] neighbourhood falls victim to a problem from outside the neighbourhood.” [Cont’d]

A paratrooper wounded in Afghanistan was threatened by a Muslim visitor to the British hospital where he is recovering.

Seriously wounded soldiers have complained that they are worried about their safety after being left on wards that are open to the public at Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.

On one occasion a member of the Parachute Regiment, still dressed in his combat uniform after being evacuated from Afghanistan, was accosted by a Muslim over the British involvement in the country.

“You have been killing my Muslim brothers in Afghanistan,” the man said during a tirade.

Because the soldier was badly injured and could not defend himself, he was very worried for his safety, sources told The Daily Telegraph.

  • MUSLIMS IN GERMANY IN HARMONY ON OPERA” – by Mark Landler, The New York Times – The International Herald Tribune (IHT) – The New York Times Company – Neuilly-sur-Seine, France – 27 September 2006
[NOTES: A group of German politicians and Muslim leaders have stated that the opera should go forward, and not be cancelled after a “landmark Islamic conference” held on Wednesday. I personally was very encouraged to read the quote I’ve included from the article below by Germany’s Chancellor Andrea Merkel – it seems she is one politician who “gets it” as far as appeasement goes. It is not clear whether the Opera House will change it’s mind on cancelling the controversial retooling of Mozart’s Opera “Idomeneo” which includes a scene depicting the severed heads of Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha & Poseidon. The Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, had cancelled the opera’s scheduled November performances due to
“unspecified threats” reported to the company’s artistic director, Kirsten Harms, who stated that Berlin’s top police-official regarded the staging of the opera as an “incalculable security risk”.]

QUOTE:

[. . .] On Wednesday, Merkel added her voice to a chorus of political and cultural leaders who criticized the Deutsche Oper.

“I think the cancellation was a mistake.” she said to reporters. “Self-censorship does not help us against people who want to practice violence in the name of Islam. It makes no sense to retreat.”

[NOTES: This reporter provides a first-hand account of a horrific train accident that occurred in 1998 when an estimated 1500 people died as a result of a runaway train and a severe lack of emergency personnel to respond to the accident (many froze on the trains awaiting rescue. It was this accident which he cites as the reason for his decision to defect from North Korea stating, “Kim Jong Il, while spending hundreds of millions of dollars to decorate his father’s mausoleum, boasts North Korea as being a ‘strong nation,’ despite not even having enough rescue workers and equipments to save his people. • MARYLAND SCHOOL SUED FOR REFUSING TO LET GIRL READ BIBLE” – by Meghan Mulhern, Correspondent – CNS News – Cybercast News Service – Alexandria, Virginia, US – 4 October 2006
[NOTES: Notice how this girl wasn’t even allowed to read her bible during her free-time on her lunch period, but in California the courts let stand a decision that forcing children to memorize parts of the Koran, and forcing them to say Islamic Prayers in school is not considered “Religious Indoctrination” (see article linked below)? What is up with this… absolutely astounding.]
  • APPEAL ON SCHOOL’S LESSON IN MUSLIM CULTURE IS REJECTED” – by Bob Egelko, Staff Writer, The San Francisco Chronicle – SFGate.com – Hearst Communications Inc. – San Francisco, California, US – 3 October 2006

QUOTE:

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal Monday by evangelical Christian students and their parents who said a Contra Costa County school district engaged in unconstitutional religious indoctrination when it taught students about Islam by having them recite language from the prayers.

[. . .]

The suit challenged the content of a seventh-grade history course at excelsior Middle School in Byron in the fall of 2001. The teacher, using an instructional guide, told students they would adopt roles as Muslims for three weeks to help them learn what Muslims believe.

She encouraged them to use Muslim names, recited prayers in class, had them memorize and recite a passage from the Quran and made them give up something for a day, such as television or candy, to simulate the fasting during the month of Ramadan. The final exam asked students for a critique of elements of Muslim culture.

The students and parents who sued agreed that the class activities had crossed the line from education into an official endorsement of a religious practice. A federal judge and the appeals court disagreed, saying the class had an instructional purpose and the students had engaged in no actual religious exercises. [Cont’d]

Of all the whoppers told by former President Clinton in his Chris Wallace interview, perhaps the most outrageous was his claim that he was involved in “trying to stop a genocide in Kosovo…” In fact, Clinton’s bombing of the former Yugoslavia killed more people than died in this “genocide.” And his policy benefited Osama bin Laden and the global Jihad.
