Thirteen men charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up US-bound passenger jets were again remanded in custody on Monday after the latest court hearing into the case.

Eleven of the 13 suspects face the most serious charges of conspiracy to murder and committing acts of terrorism.

They are: Ahmed Abdullah Ali, 25; Tanvir Hussain, 25; Umar Islam, 28; Arafat Waheed Khan, 25; Assad Ali Sarwar, 26; Adam Khatib, 19; Ibrahim Savant, 25; Waheed Zaman, 25; Nabeel Hussain, 22; Mohammed Shamin Uddin, 35; and Mohammed Yasasr Gulzar, 25.

Donale Stewart Whyte, 20, and Mohammed Usman Saddique, 24, are both charged with preparing acts of terrorism. Stewart Whyte is also charged with firearms offences.

Four other people have been charged with lesser offences, including withholding information about an impending terrorist attack and possessing items and informaton likely to be useful to someone planning an attack.[. . .]
